Product Features and Service Functions
Squirrel Ai may collect and use personal information as necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve its educational products and related services. Depending on the feature used, this may include account information, contact information, learner profile information, educational records, technical information, and user-submitted content.
Account Login and Account Binding
Squirrel Ai may collect and use account credentials, mobile phone number, verification information, and related account data to create, authenticate, secure, and manage user accounts. For certain functions, additional verification steps, such as SMS verification codes, may be used to confirm identity, protect account security, or bind a feature to an account.
Device Activation
Squirrel Ai may require users to complete an activation process in order to connect a learning device with a parent-facing, family, or account-management tool. This process may include scanning a QR code, linking a device to an account, and collecting the information necessary to activate, register, and administer the device.
Learning System Functions
Squirrel Ai may collect and use information necessary to provide educational functions and learner-support features, including lesson delivery, question-answering, grading, oral practice, speech interaction, handwriting-related functions, recommendations, and related learning tools. Depending on the feature being used, this may include learner answers, response data, uploaded materials, audio input, and device-generated learning records.
Voice-Enabled Features
If voice-enabled features are available, Squirrel Ai may collect and use voice input and related interaction data to support voice assistant functions, speech input, speech-to-text, voice-based learning interactions, and related service operation and improvement. These features are intended to operate when the relevant voice function is used or enabled.
Growth Reports and Usage Summaries
Squirrel Ai may collect and use study duration, application usage duration, activity records, and related usage information in order to generate growth reports, usage summaries, and parent-facing visibility tools. These reports may show, for example, time spent studying by subject, time spent using certain applications, and other usage metrics intended to help parents understand learner engagement.
Wrong-Answer Review Tools, Learning Reports, and Report Center Functions
Squirrel Ai may collect and use answer data, learner responses, mistake records, progress records, and related performance information in order to generate learning reports, wrong-answer review tools, and related reporting features. These functions are intended to help learners and parents understand learning performance, recurring errors, and progress over time.
Account Management and Profile Settings
Squirrel Ai may collect and use certain learner profile information, such as nickname, region, gender, grade, school, and date of birth, in order to display account information, support learner profile setup, improve service matching, and make educational recommendations more relevant to the learner’s profile and study context.
Customer Service and User Support
Squirrel Ai may collect information provided in connection with support requests, service inquiries, onboarding assistance, and customer-service interactions. This may include contact information, account information, issue descriptions, uploaded materials, and communications needed to investigate and respond to a support request.
Device Permissions and Related Functions
Squirrel Ai may request access to certain device permissions when a feature depends on that access. If a permission is not granted, the corresponding feature may not function properly.
Camera
Squirrel Ai may request camera access when the user initiates a feature that depends on camera input, such as QR code scanning, capturing images of learner work, uploading images or videos, or using certain visual functions associated with the service.
Screen Capture or Current Activity Capture
Squirrel Ai may use screen-content capture or current-activity capture in connection with certain learning features where the service needs to identify or analyze what the learner is currently viewing, studying, or interacting with in order to provide contextual assistance, feedback, or related educational functionality. Depending on the feature, this may include capture of screen images or other current on-device activity relevant to the learning session.
Photo Album or Storage
Squirrel Ai may request photo album or storage access when the user chooses to upload images, videos, or other locally stored materials for profile, support, learning, or content-submission functions.
Microphone
Squirrel Ai may request microphone access to support voice input, oral practice, speech-to-text, voice assistant functions, and related learning interactions.
Device Status and Device Identifiers
Squirrel Ai may collect certain device-related information, such as device serial number, hardware model, operating system type, Android ID, device telemetry, connectivity status, and related technical diagnostics in order to activate, administer, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the device and related services.
Network Access, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi
Squirrel Ai may rely on network, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi-related permissions or status information to support device connectivity, accessory pairing, printing, content delivery, network controls, and other device-operation functions.
Location Services
Squirrel Ai may collect and use device location information and location-related technical inputs, such as nearby Wi-Fi or cellular signal parameters, when needed to determine the location of a learning device. This functionality may be used to support location-based device functions, help parents locate or recover a device, and detect cross-region use for business risk-control purposes. If users disable location-related permissions or settings, location-dependent features may not function properly.
Application List Information
Squirrel Ai may collect or use information about installed applications or related application-list data for device administration, parental controls, or device-management functions, including identifying, reporting, or restricting applications that are not intended for the educational use of the device.
Additional Data Elements and Learning Records
Squirrel Ai may collect and use learner profile and educational-context information, including grade, school, date of birth, region, subject, school stage, semester, textbook version, enrollment date, and related educational profile information, in order to set up learner profiles, match educational content, improve recommendation quality, and support service administration.
Squirrel Ai may also collect and use learner answers, responses, learning records, mistake records, progress records, study duration, and related activity information in order to deliver learning functions, maintain learning history, generate reports, improve educational recommendations, and provide visibility to parents or other authorized users.
In addition, Squirrel Ai may collect and use device and technical information, such as device serial number, Android ID, hardware model, operating system information, software environment, and related technical records in order to activate, administer, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the device and related services.
Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies
Squirrel Ai may use cookies, log files, and similar technologies to remember user identity, maintain preferences, support basic service functionality, analyze how users interact with the service, improve service performance, and conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting. Where applicable, users may manage certain cookie-related preferences through browser or device settings.
Squirrel Ai may also use similar technologies to measure engagement with promotions, communications, or service-related campaigns, and to evaluate how users interact with certain online properties or communications. Any use of these technologies for advertising-related purposes, if applicable, should remain subject to legal review and final approved drafting.
If Squirrel Ai uses third-party advertising cookies or similar third-party tracking technologies, those technologies will not be used to target advertisements to learners under 13 years of age or to individuals under 18 years of age in Maryland or Vermont. For users who are at least 13 but under 18 years of age in other states, such technologies will be used for advertising-related purposes only after opt-in consent is obtained. Users may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting info@squirrelai.com.
Third-Party Service Providers and Integrations
Squirrel Ai may use third-party service providers and technical integrations to support service functionality, communications, analytics, diagnostics, payment processing, hosting, storage, customer support, and other business operations. Depending on the service provided, those third parties may receive information from Squirrel Ai or collect information directly in connection with the function they support.
Depending on the final service design, Squirrel Ai may also identify certain categories of third-party technical integrations, SDK-based services, or named service providers in a separate vendor list, service-provider disclosure, or other supplemental notice where appropriate.
Deletion and Backup Handling
When Squirrel Ai deletes personal information from active systems in response to a valid deletion request or under applicable retention rules, residual copies may remain temporarily in backup or recovery systems until they are deleted through ordinary backup-retention or system-refresh processes.
Parent and Guardian Visibility
Where the service design allows, Squirrel Ai may provide parents or guardians with visibility into learner activity, progress, usage summaries, learning reports, and related educational records in order to support oversight, engagement, and service administration.
